They're probably going to be used to getting a range of reactions, from outright staring to careful avoidance. They're used to it. The best thing to do is to just interact as normally as possible, if you're not trying to be rude it'll be clear just from the way you present yourself.

Looking someone in the face when you're addressing them or asking important questions is expected, looking away is fine otherwise.
