(Don't live there, but have visited on a few occasions because it's happened to be where people wanted to go.)

Not everyone is friendly, but a lot of people are used to foreigners, and a lot of people are also from somewhere else, so it's not hard to find someone who can empathize with you and give you a hand if need be.

There's little point in driving or taking a cab unless you absolutely have to; but do get an Oyster Card (the card for the tube). It will save you. Trust me on that one. Also, if someone tells you something is just two blocks away, keep in mind that "two blocks" in can be what "country mice" would call "halfway across town." (I'd say that's kinda true of all major cities, though.)

It's beautiful. I basically spent 7 hours straight walking through its streets. Was tired as hell, of course, but never regretted it. London was also the first place where I ate soft-serve ice cream (turns out it's delicious).

In comparison to the Moscow subway, which I was used to, the London tube is fairly aesthetically unimpressive, but it's very comfortable.

I visited the Sherlock Holmes museum and thought about how weird it must be to work as Watson. I still wonder if the guy enjoys his job, or if he's just doing it for money.

My favourite city in the entire world. I've visited at least half a dozen times and stayed at a friend's flat for all but the first trip. I've never been in a city where I felt immediately at home, but that was London for me. I saw a concert at St. Martin in the Fields and saw Patrick Stewart in the West End. I've seen plays at the National and operas at the Colosseum. I've been to Churchill's War Room and the Barbican. I saw Rupert Everett at the Hampstead. I've shopped at Tesco and Sainsbury and gotten lost on the Underground. If I could live anywhere in the world, I'd live in London and die happy.

Boots mascara is my fave, I also like Sainsbury, they have those fruit salads and rice crackers with apple and cinnamon. Though shops close way too early. People are largely helpful, though I still remember how someone stepped on my foot in the tube. >_> Picadilly is very nice, I loved that if you're late to a musical you can wait outside for the singing to pouse while watching the scene on the screen on a comfy couch. I liked that shopping street, Oxford Circle? or something because people there wear all the latest trends, it's ridiculous.

The tube I didn't like because it's too claustrophobic. Trains are very expensive, compared to Germany it costs like trice as much.

And squirrels, I liked the squirrels. They look at you with their round eyes and do those twitches with the tip of their fluffy tail.

As you can see I like to talk about London, shutting up now. -_-

I'm living in London now, though I'm from small town Minnesota. I think this is more of a big city thing, but people move fast and have places to be. A lot of people are nice, though not necessarily friendly to strangers, but a lot of people are also pretty rude and will go off swearing at someone for accidentally bumping into them (that, or the "sorry"). There's not much green, but I love the historical look to a lot of places. The public transportation is convenient, but I avoid the tube where I can. I hate all the smoking. You can't walk down the street without inhaling other people's smoke left and right. I about had a heart attack the first time I saw a fox (I think that's what it was?) chilling outside my apartment. I hate the church I live next to, because old and historical or not, it won't shut off its damn bell in the middle of the night, every fifteen minutes it has to do the clocksong, even at 3 a.m. Overall though an awesome city, with lots of history and culture.
