Southern California

I live about a mile from Disneyland. Impress me!

I've been a mile from Disneyland! Actually, I've been to the conference center near Disneyland for Anime Expo. It was muggy, but the facilities were great.

LA in general is certainly a melting pot. Great food, lots of culture. I stayed with a Korean friend there who was married to a white American man but her neighbours in the little gated living community were South American, Indian, Chinese...

The fucking traffic though holy shiiit. And the air quality is awful. Had a sore throat the entire time I was there and couldn't figure out why I was getting sick. I wasn't. It was just the pollution.

The air quality thing is really weird to me, but maybe I've lived here so long that I just don't notice it. 40 years ago, the air was visibly brown. Eye watering, throat clogging horrible, but it's a million times better now than it was then. You can tell that the sky is actually blue.

The traffic though...the traffic near the Anaheim Convention Center is light compared to the rest of the LA area!

even 20 years ago it was much worse, I remember driving through LA as a kid and physically seeing the brown cloud hovering around the buildings

and all the "no playing outside today, smog alert!" school days...

DODGERS SUCK

GO GIANTS

(actually, I love Disneyland and Southern California is basically fine even if I'd never live there)

I'm an Angels fan myself.

And Ducks, though I liked them a whole lot better when they were 'Mighty'.

So do I! I can and have walked to Disneyland before! Although this is not my hometown; that's a bit farther north.

The historic colonial district of Anaheim is my favorite part of the city. Disneyland is great, but I like the non-tourist scene more sometimes.

It will never stop bothering me that people think Anaheim is part of L.A. No. Stop. Completely separate county. I love-hate how when you drive north on the 5, you can tell when you cross the county line because the road's immediately get terrible and traffic increases threefold.

I live in the historic colonial district. In the square bordered by North, South, East and West streets (they were very imaginative when they named those roads). I even have a marker sitting next to my house. Our house used to be where the old Hotel Del Campo sat. The Anaheim Museum is a five minute walk from here. :-)

I hear you about the 5. We have lovely wide lanes. Lots of 'em. They have half as many and they're narrow. No wonder traffic stands still.

That's so cool! I keep wishing I can move there (currently living on the other end of town) since the church I go to is in the district and there's always fun things going on downtown. Maybe someday...

I didn't know there was an Anaheim Museum! I'll have to go there next weekend; I'm such a sucker for history, especially local history.

Have you ever been to school in Vancouver...?

I've been to Vancouver, but I've never attended school there. The schools I've attended have all been in OC.
