Tips Reading Manga Online?

I've been trying to read a chapter of this obscure manga by a favorite author of mine, and the site is so. damn. laggy. I'm using arrow keys to switch to the next page, and it takes ages to load sometimes. Occasionally, the next page won't even load at all and it will take me to a blank page that doesn't work even when refreshed.

Is there anything I can do to help this thing cooperate?

Unfortunately there's nothing you can really do except change sites or maybe check the speed of your internet. Manga can be really frustrating to read online because of slow internet speeds but I don't know how you can fix it, sorry.

Yeah, seconding the "try another site" advice. Which manga is it? I usually use mangareader.net, but if it's not there (or that's the site giving you trouble) you should be able to google if it's hosted anywhere else.

I've found this can be a pretty intermittent thing, possibly because of traffic on the site? Small online readers hosted by individual scan groups can be more prone to this, but the bigger sites do it too. Sometimes just rebooting the browser has been enough to fix it for me, at least short term. Sometimes even just going back to that chapter later on is enough.

If you think it's not just the site itself being slow, you can try some basic maintenance stuff to see if that speeds things up. Clear your cookies and cache, make sure your browser and things like Flash are up to date because some of the readers use it. Ad blocking software is also a good idea because sometimes it's ads loading on each page that make it laggy.

There are applications like Free Manga Downloader that download the chapter for you. Use them.
