I can think of several fandoms featuring pairings with, what you would call, 'unattractive older men'. Top Gear, Blake's 7, SGA, SG-1 for starters. You never know op, fic might turn up. In the meantime maybe work on not labelling people.

I mean, I don't think David Hewlett is really all that good-looking, and he was losing a lot of hair.

But Joe Flanigan was kind of young-looking for his age when the series started, and he didn't age badly.

But then, I'm only a few years younger than they.

I don't know, I think I'm unusual for SGA fandom in that those two weren't really who I was looking at....

... I'd actually be alright with some Woolsey/Caldwell. I don't think it actually exists, but I wouldn't mind it.

They could commiserate on being thrown in at the deep end of Atlantean shenanigans, and all those rule books they both had to throw out the airlock, and how nobody else in this damned galaxy seems to realise just how hard that really was. The talk wanders off into Woolsey's private quarters, where they proceed to get nicely drunk together and decide that since this is goddamned Atlantis where none of the damned rules count for shit anyway, maybe they could break a few more just for their own sakes this time. When they wake up the next morning, they're sharing one bed, Caldwell's uniform jacket is thrown over the lamp, Woolsey is still wearing one of his socks, but it's nice and warm in there, and the galaxy looks just a little bit more bearable now.

... What? It could happen, couldn't it?

*tilts head* I could see that. And it could be awesome. Something quiet, understated, but still very definitely there. They're the sort to not let everyone (or possibly anyone) know, not because of shame or fear, but just because it's not anyone else's business (though there's likely to be some of both those emotions when they're sober, but they're not going to be the main driving factor in not talking about it). Or at least, so my headcanon goes.
