(Anonymous) 2015-02-01 09:26 pm (UTC)(link)i can't imagine that if they are brazen enough to march in public they actually give a shit about some people standing and looking at them.

(Anonymous) 2015-02-01 09:48 pm (UTC)(link)The only neo-Nazis* I met were rather aggressive and wouldn't be intimidated at all - when you're marching in the streets in big numbers, with flags and maybe some flares, you're really getting pumped and your confidence in your strength grows. The crowd gives you power. That's not really a situation in which you can get "unnerved" by somebody suspicious (you might, on the other hand, attack that suspicious person, you're feeling great and powerful atm, after all...)
/* obviously, they did not admit to being neo-Nazis officially (they wouldn't be able to demonstrate in public), but they were uber-nationalist organizations

(Anonymous) 2015-02-02 10:41 am (UTC)(link)they must be imagining a bunch of bald-headed westboro types, but neo-nazis are absolutely more than that

(Anonymous) 2015-02-01 11:02 pm (UTC)(link)Because the vast majority (if not 100%) of official rallies that are racist, homophobic, etc. - get overwhelmed by crowds against them, mocking and such. Pretty much every public KKK rally gets that.
In the USA, that stuff just doesn't work like it used to. There are still racists and racist groups of course, but they have to be more subtle than they used to.

(Anonymous) 2015-02-01 11:07 pm (UTC)(link)Around here it's unfortuantely much more likely for extremists to get a big crowd than for those who want to counter-demonstrate against.

(Anonymous) 2015-02-02 05:45 am (UTC)(link)My conclusion is that there's some kind of primal ancient belief about us as an unholy enclave that has persisted through blood libels and pogroms and whatnot for decades. Maybe the idea of a "Chosen People" is frightening. Maybe the fact that we've always had such a high literacy level means we have access to ancient evil texts. Maybe it is something about the fact that we killed Jesus Christ (which no, that was the Romans, we just turned him over to them), Son of God, how is that even possible? Maybe we know something others don't, and that makes us evil? There's no rational explanation for what makes us such a threat as a race. So..,Evil Jew Powers, is the only answer.
So my theory is that if someone believes Jews are so powerful, I can use that to my advantage. If you really think that Jews have unholy secrets, and then see one staring at you and mumbling a curse in Hebrew, that should be pretty scary. And frankly, I'm not completely sure I lack that kind of power. The Kennedy Curse? That was us.

(Anonymous) 2015-02-02 09:18 am (UTC)(link)I love this attitude. Jewsploitation ftw! It's what made Inglourious Basterds such a fun movie. The incredibly scary Baer Jew, Aldo the Apache, like magical beings from fairytales come to take revenge.
