I'm having opposite problems in my original fiction ideas and my fanfiction ideas. My original fiction brain keeps throwing out fun new information about the three urban fantasy characters who have been living in my head for a while, but has no idea what kind of plot to throw at them. And my fanfiction brain has a couple vignettes it wants to write in the universe of the "Ghost" music video, but the characterization in the source material is just thin enough that I can't quite get a handle on how I want to write these people.

I have that problem with fanfiction in general. I find it much more difficult than my original fic because with my original stuff, no one knows the characters better than I do, but I always worry about doing it wrong when I'm writing someone else's characters.

I sometimes have trouble coming up with plots for interesting characters I think of, but I come up with all kinds of random ideas, so I'll just mash together a few of my ideas for characters with a few of my ideas for plot until I'm happy with the result.

I'm sure you'll figure something out.
