I suggest we resolve the Tauriel question by collectively forgetting The Hobbit trilogy exists.

I second the motion.

Thirded!

People who like it can still like it, but I personally can live without it.

This, please.

(spoilers)

how the hell did she not die at the end though? Yes, it would've been predictable, but frankly the whole movie was so bad, and imo Tauriel was such a bad character, I was kind of hoping we'd see a definite end of her. didn't she like break her back... and then was fine a couple scenes later?

Honestly, I didn't even see the third movie. At the end of the first I thought: 'it might get better'. Then the second movie came out and it was worse. Even my crush on Richard Armitage was not enough to convince me that either of those films was worth my time or money. I decided to stay home and look at pictures of Richard Armitage on the internet. It's a twofer: cheap AND antisocial.

Here you go:

I don't know - it would have made sense dramatically and thematically for her to die, but I guess she was someone's pet character.

Not only dramatically and thematically, but for continuity purposes. If we take LOTR as the sequel now, why isn't she in it? As someone with great relations with dwarves, and someone who could probably patch things with Gimli's family, why wouldn't she have been there? Not only that but her ever so climactic crying over Kili's body also makes Thranduil realize that love can exist between them and he does (or should) soften his opinion about dwarves... why is this not reflected in LOTR?

Knowing she doesn't get to spend her afterlife or whatever the Middle Earth equivalent with Kili makes me feel just a little bit better about it.
