You definitely need to get it pulled sooner rather than later, no matter what happens after.

I second finding a dental school and/or looking into dental coverage (with the latter, just make sure the terms will benefit you on this).

Getting a bridge may be an option and will probably be cheaper than an implant, although I think only an implant will keep the bone from receding over the long run, but maybe that's something you can save up for after having the tooth pulled. You need to talk to a dentist about options.
