Boy, people sure feel strongly about this. I hated Legolas in The Hobbit films, but since the ending's got me deep in the land of READ ALL THE HAPPY ENDING AU anyway, it's not like they're going to influence how I feel about non-Hobbit relationships. Much like how I don't let Elrond's weird dickishness in the LotR movies change my love for his character when I roll in the Silmarillion fandom. Legolas & Gimli are great, Kili & Tauriel are great. Compartmentalization!
