I agree with this. I once had a friend with a fancharacter that was an honest-to-God Sue. At first she deflected all criticism and comments about her character and insisted there was nothing wrong with the character. Then years later she seemed to realize "omg all those people were right!"

Sometimes someone can react badly to crit, but then it sinks it with time.
