There are some subbers like that in the J&A fandom and it drives me crazy. Like, I fully understand locking stuff down because the company's really hard on stuff online, but essays and "YOU MUST COMMENT ON EVERYTHING" is just so over the top extreme.

I know they don't have to sub and I totally appreciate when they do (it's almost impossible to find anything of Acid Black Cherry's subbed which makes me sad since my Japanese is basic at best), but the level of... not necessarily entitlement, but... haughtiness I guess? Is just so extreme.

Oh man, I was wondering myself if this was about J&A fandom, especially the corner of it I am in. I've had the same thing happen to me as the OP though, which is to my advantage (when not feeling lazy lol). It's totally understandable that people wanna cover their asses as much as possible, and also be recognized for their hard work, but jumping through hoops just to get subs gets tiring.

Because it is otherwise nearly free though, I've never openly complained before. Just kind of mosey on while sighing, since it's not something I need to live.

It made me think of J&A too, I mean, my fandom corner is probably one of the most active there and the subvers have gone completely crazy about the essays and finding passwords scattered over several posts :(

It totally made me think of the Arashi fandom. While my corner in the J&A fandom is almost dead about subs, Arashi still plays elitist while probably being one of the most active fandoms on LJ and having the most shows with subs.
