Because if you write it like a normal book but keep the plot as is, it becomes just a straight retread of every "creation meets creator" story ever. Maybe OP thinks that sounds better, but I'm glad we got one of those stories that actually made that meta step in a different direction.

Some people just won't get satire, no matter how well it's done. So you can't really say it's the author's fault that a particular reader didn't get it.
