I wish I could find the quote -- and it was from a "highbrow" author - that basically said, "There is a place for -- and an art to -- creations whose primarily intention is to entertain. They may not be Great Art, but they are Great Fun."

Sounds like something Stephen King has said, but he's not exactly "highbrow".

You might have made it up out of other quotes. Googling turns up literally zero results.

You're probably right: most likely a mashup of quotes & personal sentiment.

(Although I now have this notion that it might have been quioted in an Ebert film review, but which review it might have been I have no idea.)
