I mean, sometimes the associations your mind makes can really off-putting. Unless you do it for every piece of dirt, even the petty stuff. I liked Rosemary's Baby when I first watched it when I was fairly young and didn't know who Polanski was (not that I really paid much attention to directors or screenplay writers at the time). I also don't watch anything with Sean Penn in it. And I can't listen to anything with Chris Brown.

Oh god Polanski yes.

I remember finding out he'd done Chinatown after I'd seen it and being horrified anew by certain plot points. It all explain s so much. Never knowingly watch one of his films again.
