I don't see why it's a problem as long as it's not really minor stuff you'd forgive normal people for. Everyone says stupid things sometimes, or does stupid things, but there's dumb and then there's 'raped a bunch of kids' bad.

It's sort of like if you went to a restaurant and sat down and had an amazing dinner and then after you ate it the chef comes out
"Did you like it? Well HAHAHA, I killed your parents and that meal was their flesh!"

I don't think anyone would except you to go "Well, to be fair, it was a delicious dinner. I don't see how knowing that horrible behind the scenes fact should ruin it."
