Whoo-hoo, Deadwood! But seriously, I'm sorry for what you've been going through with your seizures, anon, although I'm glad most people have been kind to you over it.

Hey, that's the dude from Sons of Anarchy. What's his name, the one who said "I just don't like people very much". Loved him. Didn't know the actor was on Deadwood, too.

Everybody on SoA was on Deadwood. Seriously, so many Deadwood actors on SoA.

The Reverend is a favorite character of mine for his gentleness and compassion. I'm glad that you are surrounded by people who care for you and that you are not alone. All the best.

Image: screencap of Reverend Smith from Deadwood

Text: Reverend Smith is my favorite character in Deadwood.

I’ve recently begun meds for a seizure disorder. I didn’t have the perspective to understand what it’s like to be around something with an untreated seizure disorder.

I feel him so much-- resenting the problem, feeling you are a burden, even while you’re afraid, can’t ask for help.

But seeing others in Deadwood handle Smith gave me hope. People have helped me after seizures, and I’ve been so afraid that they will hate me or think I’m crazy. But they have been gentle and supportive, even if they barely know me.

Deadwood gave me the benefit of the perspective of those watching a seizure disorder afflict someone. And it made me realize that it’s not my fault I’m sick. And that I shouldn’t be ashamed that I can’t do what I want to do, or that I can’t control when it happens.

Oh, the Reverend. He was so amazing, and so sad.

I'm glad you found comfort and strength in his character portrayal, Anon.
*hugs*

The Reverend is such a good character. He is so kind and loving, and perhaps surprisingly for Deadwood, that kindness and love is returned to him from everyone he encounters, even those who are not generally kind and loving to others.

*hugs*

He is a wonderful character, OP. And he had an important role to play in such a difficult place, and good friends (even unlikely ones like Al). I'm glad the Rev is there for you.
