It's been interesting for me to watch and learn, because I've read a couple interesting books on activism lately. One was about overcoming the internal blocks to starting activist work, and one of the things it discussed was perfectionism. You can't just try and do something better, you have to do it PERFECTLY, and until you are an absolute guru on the subject and have read ALL the books and done ALL the research and planned ALL the steps, you just shouldn't do anything at all. To even try to do something, only to screw up would be EVEN WORSE than doing nothing at all.

I see a lot of that in situations like this. It's not just about having, say, representation. It must be the PERFECT representation, RIGHT NOW. People sometimes act like it's better to have perfection or nothing than imperfect attempts... even though ALL attempts will be imperfect.

Kind of sad to read actually. You shouldn't have to feel ashamed of what you enjoy.
As a 21 year old who plays Love Live and other jp games religiously I'm sure I'll be playing it still at the ripe age of 50. Dreading these types of thoughts :(

And OP I don't remember what that game is called but I did download it on my phone and chose the character in your image but had to stop since iirc you had to buy something to continue? I'll be lounging back here with my illegal downloads instead thanks.

I actually agree with you and think that's one thing the show has improved on from the books. A lot of other characters also came off as a lot more skeevey/questionable in the books than they do in the show (hell, even Ramsay was toned down a little bit. I mean, he's still fucking atrocious but he's not as atrocious).

I wouldn't say one slap is abuse (if it is just one slap) But it's still not the right way to handle it. And not a habit you want to get into, tbh. For either gender.
