This just in: people talk more about things that they actively engage in than things they have already written off because the problems are insurmountable.

I get SJW brain freeze sometimes, too, but this "problem" is obviously an indication that the fans LIKE the media that they criticize.

I think when it crosses the line over into harassing the creators it's a bit more than just "we're criticizing it because we like it."

In BW's case, I don't think so. I mean, some people definitely feel that way (or they like bits and pieces and headcanon out what they don't want). But a lot of people see that BioWare is trying, and are critiquing not only what they're not doing, but also the effort that they're making. I saw someone who claimed that they actually cry about what terrible representation Sera is for lesbians, and that BioWare owed them more because BW is willing to try in the first place.

BioWare is essentially attempting to build up a tower of representation and the people who demand it the most are digging out the foundation because it's not perfect and it's not happening quickly enough.
