Eh, ymmv on that regard. I find it much easier to disassociate from a written depiction of rape. Filmed versions, I more directly empathize with the victim because they are a real human being. And that's not even getting into the degree to which rape scenes* are also filmed to be titillating, which is a practice that just disgusts me to no end.

*and I'm speaking in the general here, not specific to GoT

Well, I mean, if you're going for simple quantity... you're still going to want to get on the show wagon. There are at best a few scenes that have specific rape triggers in GoT. In ASoIAF, you practically get a mention every few chapters.

As for the titillating thing... I don't know. It didn't seem that any of the stuff in the show was meant to be as such, but who knows. Maybe someone out there found it arousing.

A mention of rape is not nearly the same thing as seeing actual rape occur.

The amount of rape in the books is seriously exaggerated here. There's lots of smut but it's consensual.

There's lots of consensual smut in the show as well. That's not really the issue.

However, I don't really know if one should claim to speak for everyone about what kind of information might be affective- if mentions or depictions of rape are a problem, then steer clear of the books.

If graphic depictions of rape are the issue, then it's probably about equal and I wouldn't really advise someone with a serious problem to consume either unless they were absolutely certain they were ready for it.
