As for the titillating thing... I don't know. It didn't seem that any of the stuff in the show was meant to be as such, but who knows. Maybe someone out there found it arousing.

However, I don't really know if one should claim to speak for everyone about what kind of information might be affective- if mentions or depictions of rape are a problem, then steer clear of the books.
If graphic depictions of rape are the issue, then it's probably about equal and I wouldn't really advise someone with a serious problem to consume either unless they were absolutely certain they were ready for it.
