Aren't most of the writers of high school AUs still in high school? I don't think it's about looking back on that time.

Sadly, not the ones that I've run into...

I don't get it myself (unless you are in high school still because that makes sense to me) because it's so much more confining keeping characters as teenagers with school and parents and such...

Yeah, on second thought I'm sure there are more people who are interested in them than just high school students. That was just my first impulse since the ones I used to read were definitely written by people my age and I only read them while I was still in high school.
