Jupiter Rising

Okay, has anyone actually seen it? I'm going tomorrow I think. I know it is going to be stupid, but it looks pretty and has Sean Bean in it. It seems like the kind of movie that is mindless fun, and I'm totally okay with that.

I might see it with my mom. We both feel pretty much the same way as you but whether or not we're actually going to spend money to see it is still up in the air at the moment.

Haven't seen it yet, probably won't but I want to. If only because Eddie Redmayne is finally playing the villain I've always pictured as "VILLAIN".

Does that make sense? I can't really stand his face, but it has finally found its true calling (in my opinion) in this sci-fi futuristic alien overlord villain type. It's perfect! And the movie looks very pretty. Even Tatum looks weird. But I'm intrigued.

I have no interest in seeing it in theatres; I'd watch it on netflix months/years later, though. Only real thoughts I have on it:

-Super pretty costumes

-Eddie Redmayne wants to be in the Jaguar villains ad campaign

-Will Sean Bean die?! Place ya bets!

-Holy shit, they made Channing Tatum look like Kole Calhoun!

(off topic--villain anon from above)

How do you feel about the Jaguar villain commercial? I will always have a special and respectful place for Ben Kingsley, Mark Strong looked hot, I was really feeling Hiddleston (although when they were all paired up, he seemed a bit ... subpar, as a villain--a Joker try hard. And the other kid, whose name I don't recall, how is he a villain? His voice is proper, but who is he?

As a side note, I've always wanted a Jaguar. It was the first luxury car I saw when I was a kid. I felt it commanded respect, if only by the name Jaguar. And I liked its round "eyes" (headlights, oh childhood).

Are you talking about this guy? (Nicholas Hoult? He's young Beast/Hank in the new X-Men films.)

Why he's a villain idk, but he has a nice voice.

Yes, and I do agree. His voice definitely caught my attention. Thanks!

I probably won't get to see it early in its release but I love the Wachowski's work so it's high on my priority list. I'd watch this if it consisted only of paper-bag wearing puppets mouthing lines in Esperanto because I am usually entertained by their films, just as anything from Luc Besson entertains me.

Sometimes I just like movies to be fun and not commentary on society or issues. I'm probably in the minority in this opinion but I stand by it.

I wanted to see it until I found out the "Jupiter" in the title was the main character's name. Jupiter Jones, no less. I'm sorry, I can suspend my disbelief for everything they show you in the trailers, but not a name like that.

...Wasn't Jupiter Jones one of the Three Detectives?

Yup.

I don't understand the reference.

Oops, it's "The Three Investigators," as in "Alfred Hitchcock and the Three Investigators." Books for children about teenage boys who investigated weird happenings. Originally American, pretty big in Germany.

I bet a HQ cam leak is coming within the next month...I'll see it then.

I'm thinking of seeing it for exactly the same reasons. Especially the Sean Bean part.

It was fun. The plot was a bit nonsensical, but it was fun and pretty. And Sean Bean. And Chaning Tatum shirtless.
