Some of my favorite fanfics are those terrible fics that everyone here complains about. But, for whatever reason, they've captured my interest. "Better", more "well written" fics have also at times been incredibly boring. I have a friend that by all accounts writes very well, but her stuff is so mind numbingly dry that I just can't read them. I'd rather read the crap.

Eh. I'm of the mind that a fic that's boring, despite boasting good technical writing, isn't actually well-written. The ability to tell a story is just as important as the ability to construct a fine sentence.

YES! This!! Good storytelling can and will help me ignore some grammar/prose problems (which is strange b/c irl I am 'da grammar police!).
