I'm glad you enjoyed it. :D

While every word is the honest-to-goodness truth, I wrote it as deliberately tongue-in-cheek and (self-)mocking because yes, I am aware that I'm being kind of idiotic about this. (That's what makes it a fandom secret!)

I'm slightly taken aback (though in a good way! mostly) by all the super-serious responses it's received so far. Though the fact that most people seem to have missed the (intended) self-mockery just proves the oft-repeated point in comments that I'm not as good a writer as they think I think I am...

Oh, well, that makes more sense.

yay!

It's funny how I'm opposite of you in my stance on plagiat. I want to go viral, I want to tell my fandom friends that my work was stolen and do teh drama. I want someone to rec me my own work that was plagiarized.
I was completely ok with people copying things at Uni. Creative copying, that's the term.

Imo, everybody have their quirks. There are always modern fandoms...

I wasn't okay with people copying in general because it bothers other people, but I've never cared as much about people taking credit for my work as I'm supposed to. There have been several classes where I'd end up sitting next to some who would hear my answers to the teacher's questions and then repeat them more loudly because no one else heard me, and then they would get credit for the answers. I just thought it was kind of funny. Then there were the people who would try to copy off me without asking but couldn't read my writing. Even the teacher would laugh at that one.

I never really thought about it but between my quiet voice and my tiny, light handwriting, it's like I've done my best to avoid being heard my whole life.

Aww.
Actually someone answering instead of me would annoy me because they'd get points that would be mine if not for them, so they harm my marks.
Handwriting is a good indicator of a character, I think. I'm not sure what does hardness or lightness mean. I remember that small capitals indicate a humble ambition.)

Don't you think, though, that it would be kind of *awesome* if someone did abscond with one of your ideas and wrote a truly excellent book that sold a gazillion copies and you could point to your pre-published online fic of it and say: MINE. I WROTE IT FIRST?

I mean.

They would have this bestselling book that would get turned into a musical or whatever, but they would KNOW it WASN'T THEIR IDEA. You came up with that idea. YOU. Because you are brilliant, yis.

And you could even sue them or something like that woman who just took the Matrix producers to the cleaners.

So, I would say you are perhaps taking this from the weak viewpoint, the one that doesn't see the great boon this could be for you.
