This. Hell, I watched a discussion on another secret community nearly run off the rails because the original poster in that thread started to call someone a bitch (among other colorful nouns and adjectives) because she didn't agree with the other person's assessment of her skills/talent.

Yeah honestly any kind of "personal attacks" can often make a community run wild and I understand why mods implement these sorts of rules. It may feel like the mod is being strict at times but it's harder to get rid of these problems if you don't have solid rules.

In the case of fandom I always wonder why people feel the need to resort to personal attacks anyway, when half the time we're talking about fictional characters and opinions about them. Keep the discussion on it's original point, even if what the person is saying makes you mad, respond to them with an on topic rebuttal and not an attack (plus I've seen trolls get users to try to attack them so the user gets banned, so it's best just to keep a cool head about it.)
