Yes, you have every right to take down your fics. Yes, people should probably save their favorite fics. But as someone that has lost old fics (due to computer crashes and once a computer crash AND external hard drive crash within a week of each other) no longer available online, I just have to say:

That's why you invest in backup drives. I've been through several computers and dozens of hard drives and haven't lost a thing.
