*I believe Dragonseye established that it's possible to get around it with no negative consequences if the affected riders stay away from each other and each have their own preferred sexual partner at hand, but in the earlier books (later in the timeline) no one seems to remember that loophole.

and supposedly the newer books reference a lesbian. IDK. The whole tentpeg thing really soured it for me so while I've kept my fave books out of nostalgia, I haven't been so interested in the newer ones.

There's one gay character in there who's treated like a real person and is concerned about his lover who sick with the disease. Honestly, sometimes Moreta feels like it was written by a completely different (and better) writer.
