Normal Reactions:
"I wish people werent such assholes"
"Maybe I should leave"

Not a Normal Reaction:
"I ~almost~ vindictively hope the whole place goes away just to suit me and everyone else stops having fun and loses their community whether they like it or not, including all the people who have done nothing to me, while I don't take any responsibility for myself and keep coming back"

If this is indicative of how you normally react to things, I somehow doubt your comments are simply "misunderstood"

like OP I sympathize with comments getting misinterpreted and shit but there is pretty much no way to misinterpret you ~almost~ wishing a whole community goes away instead of you actually doing something and leaving it as anything other than vindictive and selfish.

I actually disagree with you completely. Not anon above by the way.

If you see a place as toxic and spewing ugliness, it's not weird to wish it would go away. It's a culture not just a "thing I should avoid."

Now, clearly not everyone will interpret a place the same way. But don't act like it makes the OP some kind of toxic asshole if they feel this is a toxic hateful place.

Newflash. Sometimes it fucking IS.

The onus is still on the person who feels that way (who, as you've just said yourself, might not be representative of the people who don't feel that way at all and still enjoy the place) to take themselves away from it.

We're not talking about an inescapable situation here. OP does not need to be here for their food or shelter or sustenance. They choose to be here of their own free will, and thus the responsibility is on them to choose not to be here if they're that badly affected by it and think it's hateful and toxic. It is not that place's responsibility to disappear.

Very true, and hopefully they will get to a better place emotionally and realize that.

But come on. Have you never had that experience?

I'm a religious person, I don't think all religion should disappear forever because some people have been hurt by it. But there are a lot of people who DO feel that way, because of their own experiences. A lot of people feel that about a lot of things, even if they're not inescapably stuck with it.

These feelings are pretty ordinary. Hopefully a person finds better ways to separate and protect themselves from things that they find harmful. But anyone who doesn't understand that "I wish it would just go away" feeling has obviously never been really hurt or beaten down by something in their life.

Or maybe they just deal with those things in more mature ways.

"In my limited experience with your comment, I feel you should go eat shit. A big ol' bag of shit. Yum yum shit."

"Whaaaat? Why are you jumping down my throat? I put that it was just my opinion on there!"

I mean this com has its share of assholes, but if someone says they've found a corner of the internet that 100% asshole free I'm going to assume they're lying or it's an empty corner.

There are asshole free places that rock. You just gotta know how to look for them... and meet their standards.

Well worth it, I say.
