That seems like a ridiculous attitude.

(Anonymous) 2015-02-18 12:57 am (UTC)(link)
Uh, not really.

(Anonymous) 2015-02-18 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, it is. I can understand disliking queer characters sacrificing their lives for their straight love interest, that's annoying as hell. But having a problem with any queer character dying? That's fucking nuts.

I don't want queer characters to be special snowflakes with special privileges. I want them to be the same that any other character, and straight characters die all the time.

OP needs to fuck off to Tumblr.

Considering there's BARLEY any gay people in mainstream media, OP has every right to be mad if they're killed of for a stupid reason.

This isn't a tumblr thing.You're just a giant asshole.

Well, not BARELY. (I assume you didn't actually mean barley.) http://www.glaad.org/whereweareontv14

Network TV, it's about 4% as of last year, just under three dozen characters. Cable, almost twice that many, for a total of nearly a hundred. Movies, somewhat worse, though they don't have a clear metric of overall character count.

So, arguably not enough, but a hundred characters on TV this season and dozens more in various movies isn't exactly hunting unicorns.

(Anonymous) 2015-02-18 04:25 am (UTC)(link)
yes, that's barely

(Anonymous) 2015-02-18 05:29 am (UTC)(link)
that's barely

(Anonymous) 2015-02-18 03:02 am (UTC)(link)
There's a difference between being pissed off because a queer character is killed off for stupid reasons, and being pissed off because a queer character died at all.

(Anonymous) 2015-02-18 12:21 pm (UTC)(link)
The only asshole here is you insulting other people for no reason because they disagreed with your retarded arguments. You're an immature shitty human being, aren't you? Fuck off and learn to accept other people's opinions.

(Anonymous) 2015-02-18 05:33 pm (UTC)(link)
you sound like a child

(Anonymous) 2015-02-18 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
You think? I don't.

(Anonymous) 2015-02-18 01:56 am (UTC)(link)
I guess to me I see it as an attempt to define in advance what kind of stories can and can't be told about queer characters, and I don't agree with that. I think all kinds of stories can and should be told about queer characters. And all other kinds of characters.

The problem is that, nine times out of ten, the queer character dies. It's basically a type of porn at this rate. You're more likely to find a dead queer character than a living one.

Re: DA

(Anonymous) 2015-02-18 02:51 am (UTC)(link)
Do you have hard data on that?

FUCKING BULLSHIT. Shows with queer characters I'm watching right now:

-Mad Men: No queer character died.
-Modern Family: No queer character died.
-Game of Thrones: One queer character died, others still alive. Hundreds of non queer characters died too.
-The Walking Dead: The only queer character is still alive. Hundreds of non queer characters died.
-Broadchurch: No queer character died. In fact the only queer character had a very sweet kiss last episode with the woman she has been in love for years and it was beautiful.
-The Good Wife: Several queer characters, all alive.

1/6. And the 1 is Game of Thrones where everyone dies. Now stop playing the victim.

It's weird to me people can go off a show because they hate the soundtrack or editing or something, and that's acceptable, but it's "ridiculous" to stop watching for anything even marginally related to social justice issues.
