(Anonymous) 2015-02-18 12:11 am (UTC)(link)I don't know. Maybe it's just the ways I personally have heard each used. Anyone else agree? Am I just crazy? I don't know where else to ask something like this.

(Anonymous) 2015-02-18 12:17 am (UTC)(link)Bitch feels far more gendered in that it's associated with "weakness" "passive aggression" "backstabbing" "incisive" and "female"

(Anonymous) 2015-02-18 12:29 am (UTC)(link)IDK, if you call a man a cunt it doesn't mean that he's female or feminine, its interchangeable with dick. Women don't really factor in at all there
If you can a man a bitch you are saying he is literally "like a woman" in a negative sense and dissing women at the same time

A 'bitch' is someone who deliberately hurts people, typically with nasty remarks, like a RL troll; admittedly, it's only applied to women.
What I hate is when people write b---- instead of writing the word itself. WTF? Do they think they're protecting us from black magic? I once read an entire discussion on a Harry Potter forum thinking that b--- referred to 'bitch' (because I couldn't see the dashes clearly enough to count them) until I realised it was 'bint'.

(Anonymous) 2015-02-18 03:37 am (UTC)(link)Except that to a lot of men in America, being called a dick is mild. Being called a cunt is worse than being called a pussy, for some reason, and calling a woman a cunt is far more pointed and powerful-seeming than bitch.
IE, a lot of men will call women in general "bitches," but calling her a cunt means you're pissed off.

(Anonymous) 2015-02-18 12:28 am (UTC)(link)To me, cunt sounds like you're insulting someone who knows what they're doing, you just hate them for it. And I'd prefer to see it in porn rather than 'pussy'.

But still, I have a hard time taking anyone who uses it as an insult seriously. At least with the people I've run into, it's not a word they use often. Rather, it's one they save up for a proper occasion to let you know you've really ticked them off, and now they're pulling out the big words. Except, that's really all they tend to have. Like calling someone a cunt is a trump card that wins you the put-down award :U
If it was thrown around as easily and loosely as bitch where I am, I wouldn't be so embarrassed for people who try too hard to pretend they're only situationally uncouth.

(Anonymous) 2015-02-18 02:27 am (UTC)(link)Bitch doesn't even faze me at this point. I've been called a bitch so many times for so many things, tbh it's like a term of endearment to me. My friends are bitches, I'm a bitch, anyone with opinions is a bitch. It's such a bland and mild insult.
OTOH While I'm not offended by cunt, I would be pretty shocked to be called that, or to even hear it said in public casually. I'm American and I think I can count on one hand the number of times I've heard it said irl and every time it was by someone using the worst insults they could possibly think of. so imo it's a much stronger word.
Bitch at least implies that it's the behavior one finds objectionable (being bitchy, acting like a bitch, crying like a little bitch). Cunt is just you=vagina=THE WORST THING IMAGINABLE which I find a lot more nasty. It's not even like pussy meaning both a vagina and a wimp, where again it's the word being ascribed to a behavior (cowardice or whining) as much as to womanhood. With 'cunt' it's just like "Vaginas are the worst things I can think of therefore you are a vagina."
