No he's not. Rock and roll is about giving the establishment the middle finger and Kanye so wants to be the establishment. It's embarrassing how badly he wants to be it. (Like the fuss over the Grammys is an example of this. A rock star wouldn't give a fuck about the Grammys. He is the opposite of that.)

He's a try-hard and a poseur.

Who is the "establishment"? And, under this definition, who is rock n' roll? Kanye West, like any popular mainstream artist, has to cater to a mass audience to maintain his career.
He has his own successful record label at least, which gives him more freedom than other mainstream artists.
Just because you have a guitar and like partying doesn't mean you are giving the finger to the establishment

Kanye is the Donald Trump of the music scene. I have never seen anyone believe in his own hype as much as he does.
