I think the main problem that I see is that most "honest" discussions about attitudes in Islam that are problematic tend to devolve in genuine racism. So, I think that's why so many people are so happy with her being ain a high profile comic.

That being said, you are allowed to dislike a character, especially if you're reasons for it are so personal.

Good on you for breaking free from a religion that wasn't right for you, OP.

Yeah seconded, if the character and her supporting cast bring up bad memories for you, then yeah you shouldn't be shamed for not being into that. I really hope no one gives you grief over it, and if they do that's all on them.

I love Ms. Marvel but I certainly understand your reasons for not doing so.

Agree with this. When it comes to it, discussing religion is always a slippery slope, but I don't think we should stop discussing it.
