This might not help, but have you tried enjoying it as a slap in the face to people like your family? The character herself doesn't act like a conservative bigot and if people are holding her up as the kind of person a Muslim should be, they *are* in effect saying that the bigots are the bad ones who have lost the spirit of the religion in the details

Oh, I realized I didn't really include a reason for why this is a secret. The thing is that I'm trying to respect that Nightwing was a pretty important phase in Dick's life and that a lot of readers are emotionally attached to it. And I have my nostalgia goggles on for certain things as well, so I know what that feels like. But the constant griping and wanting to set back the clock still annoys me. Nightwing in the Nu 52 was such a depressing slog, and I'm glad he's in something fun and interesting now.

Idk, to me, Dick was Robin first, and then later when I got back into comics, he was Batman, so I have no special emotional connection to Nightwing. So like, I respect that people have trouble letting go, I guess, but geez.

TBH I think he's a fine character but I never had the same love of him that the rest of fandom seems to. He's a comfortable 4th on my character affection power ranking for that show. But the love is universal in fandom at large.
