I have no idea where all this wank is coming from. To be perfectly honest, I liked the movie way better than the musical. True, I didn't see the original live((I did catch it a few times it aired on public TV)), but I saw the revival live, and the movie is still so much better.

People need to stop wanking over Johnny too. No, he's not Len Cariou. No, he's not Michael Cerveris. But that's one of the reason I was glad to see him in the role. If they casted people too like the original/revival roles, it just wouldn't be interesting. Same thing goes Helena. Also, people need to stop saying that she got the role 'cause she's sleeping with Burton.

I'm not sure if I count at all, since I'm probably one of the most outspoken people against it, but I actually really did enjoy the movie. (Lol logic.)

The movie itself was great, and I thought it was a good adaptation -- not a good COPY of the musical, of course not, anyone would be an idiot to expect that. But a good adaptation of it.

My personal dislike spawns purely from the two main actors, and that seems to be the case with the majority of people who didn't like the movie, from other comments I've seen. Even then, I'm mainly just disappointed because I know the both of them could do MUCH better, and just didn't for whatever reason.

It all started when Tim Burton decided to make the main leads the same people he's used for at least the past three movies he's made, at least that's how I saw it all go down.
Personally, I thought the movie was all right, but Sweeney Todd isn't my favorite Sondheim show to begin with. Really, I was just there for Alan Rickman and Timothy Spall.

Fandom is butthurt because OH MY GOD HOLLYWOOD MADE A MOVIE NOT LIKE THE ORIGINAL. Did none of you fucking watch West Side Story, Chicago, Cabaret, Hairspray, Phantom of the Opera, just to name a scant few?
