Hit up the library and see if they've got a recent copy of writer's market (published annually), there's usually a list of current agents. probably in the reference section.

filter out agents that push the genres you work in, google how to query them. There's a number of really good resources out there. shit like this - http://www.agentquery.com/format_tips.aspx

professionalism, correct targeting, general persistence.

ack, I apologize for my assumption. yeah, my info is US. I unfortunately don't know of other equivalents of Writer's Market for other regions, but at least the query formatting should be roughly standard.

S'ok! I'd probably want to get published in English if I can, anyway. And fantasy/sci-fi here doesn't sell so well here for local authors, especially not if you want to make any money.
So having the info for the US is definitely not a waste for me, and either way the query formatting is helpful =)
