If you're incapable of working, you're not going to be able to immigrate to pretty much any country anywhere unless you have family there willing and able to support you. No government's going to admit someone who will be nothing but another drain on the nation's (typically overtaxed and underfunded) social services.

Yeah, this. :\ Sorry OP, but you're probably better off spending that money and effort on bettering your current situation in the US.

Agreeing with both the above posts. Especially the first -- OP, they're decimating the welfare of actual British citizens right now, there's no chance in hell they'd let someone in who couldn't not only support themselves, but couldn't also contribute heavily to the economy via taxes etc.

If your situation is bad or dangerous, OP, then you really need to focus on realistic solutions that will actually help you. Fantasies of exotic escapes can be very comforting, I know, but they're also going to distract you from real, practical opportunities and help here and now.

Yeah, I think this is well put. OP didn't go into details, but this whole "desperately want to leave US and go to UK" does sound like escapist fantasy. The UK has its own problems and issues, it's not a perfect life either. And more than that, the US is enormous. I understand wanting to get out of a particular city, or get away from family, etc. But as an American, there are so many options. Move across the country. Alaska, Hawaii, if you're feeling really adventurous. Not only are you going somewhere different, you don't have to worry about the paperwork and such, and certainly not a visa!

And, if you really really want to live in Britain one day, make that your goal. But it's something you will need to work toward. Go to school, study and develop some kind of skill, and start applying for jobs. If you are unskilled, you're not going to get a visa now, but one day if you work toward it an develop your skills, you could.

Just don't go for the wrong reasons. If you want to "escape America" chances are the problems you have with the US are going to be similar problems that the UK has, too. Idealizing any country is just setting you up for disappointment.
