Yeah, there really isn't an easy-mode to immigration. Even if you have a great job lined up, you're highly educated, you're fabulously wealthy, you're perfectly healthy, AND you're married to a citizen, you're still looking at years of filling out paperwork before you can even be considered for permanent residency. Especially in the UK, which actually has iirc some of the strictest visa and immigration laws out of the English speaking countries.
