Misery is one of my favorite books but I'm not fond of Stephen King in general. Definitely not my ideal for horror.

Same with me. I liked Misery, but it was about the only one of his that I enjoyed. Which is odd, because there's several concepts of his that should be right up my street (Needful Things, in particular), but the execution in his case ... he just leaves me cold most of the time.
