Re: Not-Mindless action movies!

Children of Men
28 Days Later (you might find this more horror than action but I found it more action than horror)
Black Hawk Down
Zero Dark Thirty
John Wick
The Mummy (1 and 2)
Conan The Barbarian (fantasy epic action but it still counts imo)
Elysium (this is divisive, but I still found it pretty good)
Edge Of Tomorrow

That should cover a pretty wide range of genres for you.

Edit: Oops. Didn't read the whole comment and just started posting. Didn't see you already said you'd seen The Mummy.

I just realized I forgot Attack The Block.

I am so remiss. SO remiss.

DA

Definitely seconding Attack the Block. I found it somewhere deep within the bowels of my Roku, and absolutely do not regret watching it at all. Best movie I've seen in a loooooong time, and I usually give up on movies after about ten minutes in, these days.

Very good. Amazing movie even. I and my partner both thoroughly enjoyed it.

Definitely a must-see movie. I hate doing the "it's-like-this" kind of description, but it's like Men in Black meets Shaun of the Dead meets a realistic portrayal of the British housing projects. With a little bit of War of the Worlds/Day of the Triffids thrown in.

It's awesome, is what I'm trying to say. XD

I loved Children of Men. If you haven't yet, I'd recommend the book too.

Someday I will have time to read. I might pick up the book then.
