Nah. This isn't something new. It is pretty much established the red carpet is for fashion. No one reads, "Best Person Talking About Their Movie" lists after the Oscars.

I mean, just because it's established that it's this way, doesn't mean it ought to be this way. Especially to the extent that it is.

Sure there's Best Dressed lists, but they're simply about the overall presentation. They're not about what the actress said to the media people, so your comparison doesn't work. Anyway, they should be asked about their work because the thoughts of an actor on their performance are way more interesting to hear them talk about on the red carpet than their make-up for the night.

Who said it was new? Does the fact that this has happened for a while make it necessary for all women to put up with it? I mean... does that really sound logical to you? Lots of objectionable practices last for years (or decades or centuries), it doesn't mean we're stuck with them forever.
