Women screaming their heads off in childbirth. Holy fuck, that's annoying. Yes, i know some women do, but guess what? NOT ALL OF US (#NotAllBirthingMoms). Just - so fucking annoying.

Most anything to do with babies in the media. Not all women want them. Not everybody thinks they're cute and adorable. Abortion doesn't mean depression and sadness. GRR. ARRGH.

Also - holy gods, this is petty - people sending their kids off to school without letting them finish their breakfast (you're going to be late!! run!!) or brushing their teeth. Jayzus.

I always hate in movie scenes where the woman giving birth is screaming at the husband and cursing him. Does that really happen?

I am always amazed by families in movies who have full breakfasts every morning before dinner.

I dunno. I certainly didn't. I mostly just breathed hard and, to be fair, did almost kick the doula in the head, but she was being so fucking annoying. (I don't really like being touched, and she was a super-hands on, 'let me help you position your legs! i'll rub your back!!' kind of person and i was like 'holy crap, woman, back the fuck off, i'm giving birth, here'.)

Full breakfasts before dinner? Um.

I'm always baffled by the whole 'well, dad and i are having a fight, so you kids go up to your rooms now!!' and the kids leave with a whole meal on their plate. Really? That's just mean. And - i'm not a perfect parent or anything, but i didn't let my daughter go to school without breakfast or clean teeth. I mean - kids need breakfast! And clean teeth are just, you know - a good thing.

I hate screaming birth scenes. Even if it IS realistic, it just doesn't seem in any way believable when most actors do it.

It really doesn't. Mostly because they always seem to have their makeup intact. And how about some women giving birth crouching (which is easier and better) or in a tub? Lying flat on your back is actually not all that awesome, re: birth.

I love Call the Midwife for this reason. Of course, part of that's because it's a series focusing on childbirth, but still.

Yes! Call the Midwife was wonderful, if a bit horrifying. Those poor women and their fourth, fifth, sixth kid.....

Did you get to the episode with the woman who applied for birth control but was told insurance didn't cover it and meanwhile she already had like seven kids and she got pregnant with an eighth and she was trying desperately to be a good mother, but the system continued to fuck them over? I was so happy they ended up getting a happy ending, but still. Might have been a bit heavy handed, but it still hit close to home.

YES. That was so horribly sad. Like - for the love of god, let this poor woman stop giving birth! She's going to have a break down or *die*.

I hate that the whole 'motherhood' thing was so 'prized' that people got all freaked about making it stop. It was a lot more grim and ugly in the book (which are really good, as well).

Ooh, yeah. I should read the books. I have a lot of things on my "to read" list.

I don't like the opposite, where women giving birth have two pushes and two "eeks" and then there's the baby. That one shows up on a LOT of TV shows.

And yet, that's legitimate, as well. I didn't push twice, but my labor was short, there was no screaming or thrashing or cursing, and frankly, i've had tattoos that hurt worse.

I just wish the 'omg i'm going to die' labor wasn't *the* labor they choose to go with 99 percent of the time.
