I'm torn between laughing and rolling my eyes at the people in this thread who are convinced that all women on the red carpet are poor oppressed little creatures who are damned by a misogynistic society to wear mind-numbingly expensive gowns and jewelry, the poor, poor things ;_;

And I had to wear high heels for six hours (well, seven) when I worked retail at a women's clothing store. It was torture.

I think this thread is stupid and claiming that asking actresses about their clothes is misogyny is reaching, but your implication that women aren't affected by misogyny if they're rich or successful enough is downright incorrect.

I do not imply this at all. All I'm saying is that not everything is based on misogyny and some of those women actually really, really enjoy dressing up in clothes that could feed a family for a few months and to say "but they are so oppressed!" is just silly. And I think the privilege they show with that kind of equals out what little misogyny they might encounter along the way.

The only one not getting nuance in media is you with your rabid "OPPRESSSHON!! MISOGYNYYYYYYY" whining because people ask the dressed up women on a red carpet what they dressed up in. Sepcifically for that event and probably not all of them because they felt pressured into it but because they genuinely enjoy it.
