Well, I'm not terribly original in this regard. I hate the notion that an omniscient caring, loving God could exist in a world so full of pointless suffering.

I should probably note that I don't have any sort of moral issue with indifferent/impersonal/less caring gods.

Well, I agree with that, and I'm not (as is pretty obvious from my original comment) saying that rejecting religion is a generally good idea.

My mind doesn't work like this, though. I can't choose whether to be religious or not. I see the evil around me, and I see the moral problem with saying that an omniscient loving God exists, and I can draw only one conclusion from these two premises.

(all the logical issues with religious beliefs aside).
