I think Elizabeth and Darcy from Pride and Prejudice would have been good friends as well as a married couple. They'd combine book collections and have inside jokes and dread visits from her mother.

Yeah, and you made me think of Knightley and Emma. They totally fit! (Emma is my favorite Austen novel btw)

I love Emma. They are good friends, and so are Fanny and Edmund from Mansfield Park. Austen writes a lot of well-matched couples.

I think Persuasion and Pride and Prejudice are my favourites.
