CSI

In honor of today's secret, let's talk CSI.

Do you still watch it? If not, when did you stop? Favorite character? Favorite ship? Favorite Ep? Watch for the characters or the cases?

What did you think of this season? Thoughts on it maybe being it's last season?

Did you watch the old spin-offs or going to watch Cyber?

I stopped watching around when Warrick died.

Nick Stokes was my favorite (he was so whumpy). My favorite ship was Nick/Greg. Favorite episode was Grave Danger part 1&2 (so much whump but so little follow thru on later episodes). Watched for the characters.

Never watched any spin-offs. Did play one of the video games....

You may be interested to know that Nick just left the series in the latest finale. He's off to head his own crime lab in San Diego, and the character got a really nice wrap up (not dead or burnt out or anything).

The whole thing with Warrick was sad, since so much of it revolved around the actor devolving. For me, as long as Greg is still on, then I'm still going to watch. :)

Really? He SURVIVED? Amazing.

Warrick was written off because of the actor right? He got arrested or something...?

He did indeed. ;)

Yeah, I think the actor had drug problems that messed up his personal life. It was very sad.

I have all of CSI: NY and CSI: Miami on DVD. I have all but the last season of CSI, but I'm burned out on it. I loved it right up until Grissom left, but it lost so much heart after that.

Ships? Nothing passionately, though my head-canon insists Nick is gay and Greg is bi. If I shipped anyone, it was Nick/Greg (open relationship) and Gil/Lady Heather.

Love the NY crew so much more than the Miami team. Loved Danny/Flack in particular. Never could stand Horatio Caine. Wished Calleigh Duquesne were part of the Vegas crew. She and Greg would have been a crack-up.

I agree that after Grissom left, it lost heart. But I think that only really applies to the Langston era. Ever since D.B. has been there, I feel like the show has that old feeling back.

I could get behind a Gil/Lady Heather ship. Personally, I ship Gil/Greg, but I could definitely see them with Lady Heather.

I liked both NY and Miami. Wolfe and Adam were my favorites. Everyone on Miami (except Wolfe) became caricatures and rather unlikeable by the end of the show. I liked Calleigh a lot in the earlier seasons before she hooked up with Delko and became infected with his self-righteousness.

I love Danny and Flack too. I had to give up NY when Jo came (who I couldn't stand in the few episodes I did see). I keep meaning to watch the last seasons but haven't found the time.

Agree that DB brought a lot of heart back to the show.

Stopped watching Vegas after they hooked Gil and Sidle up because, no, just no, he'd never do that. (My personal canon.) And then once I heard they'd killed Warrick, I was never going back to that show. Mostly because I am a Gil/Warrick shipper (and in my universe, Warrick is not dead.) Gil and Warrick were my faves.

Watched CSI: Miami...for a while, can't remember when I stopped watching it but I got tired of Captain Sunglasses. I shipped Horatio/Speed. (I don't always go for the doomed relationships....)

Watched CSI: New York until sometime in S5, I think. I didn't like them hooking Danny/Montana up, mostly cus I was a Mac/Danny shipper. My fave character though, was Sid Hammerback.

I might give Cyber a chance, but I AM going to watch the CM spinoff with Gary Sinise.

I agree about Sara/Gil. I couldn't stand that ship.

If it makes you feel better, Sara and Grissom are divorced now. They couldn't make the long distance relationship work. I'm sure somehow Warrick's not dead too, so he and Gil are totally doing science in the jungle together. :) (Although, there was a later episode about Warrick's kid and wife that you should definitely NOT see. It was a real transitivity.)

I got tired of the police brutality in the later episodes of Miami. Horatio's holier-than-thou attitude was tolerable when he was actually toeing the line but once he started taking suspects in the back of his car to rough them up, he lost all moral high ground for me. The rest of the cast suffered the same thing. I think the writing got really lazy (not that it started out stellar or anything).

I like Mac/Danny too, though I'm a multi-shipper for NY. I gave Montana/Danny an honest shot but I didn't like where it went. Sid is indeed awesome, though Adam is always my fave.

I will also be watching the CM spinoff. I REALLY hope it's good.

I stopped watching Vegas shortly after Gris left. Gris was cool. I was really upset by Warrick's death but what really killed it for me was how dull the Fishburne character was. The only thing that could have salvaged the show for me was if he had turned out to be a Dexter-type serial killer.
I stopped watching New York after that ridiculous story arc about the murderer who fell off a lighthouse and didn't even get hurt and managed to find Danny and Lindsay's apartment, break in and menace their kid. I wanted Graham Chapman to walk in and go "Stop it, this is getting too silly!"
I will watch reruns of both shows but only up to that point.

I totally agree about Fishburne. His character started out promising (being all excited by CSI work) but then he took this serious turn and had too much seniority for such a newbie. If you are watching reruns, I would recommend trying the show once Ted Danson came on. I feel that it got back its spark (although I did watch all through the Fishburne era, which dragged the show down hard).

Oh, man, I'd forgotten about that storyline on NY! Yeah, that was pretty ridiculous. Although, I was watching Miami at the time, so I might've been inoculated against the ridiculous. I stopped watching when Stella left. The other actress rubbed me the wrong way.

hahaha, that's exactly when I stopped watching too (although I was already losing a lot of interest not long before that with the whole Danny gets paralyzed storyline. I usually love character whump, especially with Danny, but it was just so not engaging to me). I remember thinking "what is this bullshit?" and I didn't even bother watching season 7 to see how the cliff hanger resolved itself.
