I gave up on defending homestuck for its art when the same people who lauded Hussie's expressiveness and color combos on tumblr shat all over KC Green's paradox space comics.

Bloody hypocrites. KC Green is way closer to the ~spirit~ of Hs than you ever were.
Not that I can't enjoy hs fanon, but wtf.

I am not going to defend Homestuck's art, because a lot of its art is not very attractive. However, I just went and looked at those Paradox Space comics you mentioned, and they were all Sweet Bro and Hella Jeff, which is in fact worse art than the rest of the bad art in Homestuck. It's supposed to be. From what I recall of SBaHJ in Homestuck itself, KC Green captured the style quite well. Since I have some sort of allergic reaction to SBaHJ, I can't really appreciate it.

That's not totally true. The very first he did was one with John and Dave.

Feels like he got stuck with SBaHJ. I do remember a backslash at this point, because fandom was expecting much more "canon" stories.

I liked them. Overall the comic seems a bit half-assed compared to his SBaHJ comics though.

Why exactly are people shitting on fun little comics, especially when one is Sweet Bro and Hella Jeff which is *supposed* to be hella ugly, that's the whole joke.

You know, for a fandom that has some extremely funny source material sometimes Homestuck fans take shit way too seriously. Not just talking about art debates but I've been thinking this in general lately.

I think a lot of people were expecting Paradox Space to be something it isn't--they were expecting it to be purely expanding on everything we found in canon (like, stories about the ancestors, or more detail about the alpha troll session, or whatever)--so they're miffed we got silly side-adventures and what-ifs and AUs and such.

I'm happy, though, because the comics are fun, and we get lots of cute stuff. I like that Equius is getting lots of attention, and I like that there's more Rose and Jade interacting in any context (they're so cute).

I can understand why people would want that sort of expansion of the world, but I think it'd just translate into "more shit hussie needs to do" and from everything I hear he's super busy so it's nice to have something he can leave in the hands of other people. It's just a nice extra thing for the fans while the main content and game get worked on.

And I agree the comics are fun, and since they're not essential to the main plot at least you can say, "Well if you don't like it, don't read it."

Exactly! I don't even know how that man sleeps as it is. He would actually have to have a robot double in real life to do all that PLUS the kind of Paradox Space people wanted.

because the paradox comics are not all jpeg-artifacted and with weird copy-paste "art errors" and infinity insanity at the bottom like the canon shahj comics, is my guess
