Is the issue not that you don't have the funds to buy stuff you want online or that you don't have a card that makes paying online easy? And if it's the latter, do you not live somewhere that sells Visa gift cards? (Or are you afraid having the ability to buy things online at all would lead to a rabbit hole of spending?)

I'm gathering it's probably the latter (that having those imaginary funds would lead to a rabbit hole of spending). Some people are NOT good budgeters and don't do well with credit cards.

Though OP, a LOT of sites take paypal now, and as [personal profile] dancing_clown suggested, maybe VISA giftcards? That way it's 'accounted for' money and not "WOOO UNLIMITED FUNDS, CREDIT CARD YAY!"?
