What do you think? I think the guy was way out of line to call her "disgusting", I mean, that's just not okay.

Buuuuut I don't know if I'd want to be stuck behind that hairstyle. Granted, it depends on the seating arrangement, but I've been in theaters where the seats were already short enough that I couldn't see over someone's head, without adding a puff of hair. She said that she pulled it back, why couldn't she keep it pulled back, so that other people can hear?

I get the idea that afros/locs should be seen as professional, and I think the idea that they're not because of coding is racist as fuck, but going to the opera wasn't a job for her.

Did she actually post video? If not, calling bullshit.

And no it isn't wrong to ask someone to control their hair so you can see. I'd say the same thing to someone in a hat.

Yeah, I feel similarly. I'm sort of tall and I often just slouch downn a bit because I worry about blocking's people's view.

Clearly, he was a dick about it. But honestly, she did make it a way bigger deal than it was at the point they were still civil.

I'm not clicking until you tell me what that link is supposedly about.

(Anonymous) 2015-02-27 01:27 am (UTC)(link)
yeah

it's on the site's url! do not link!

(Anonymous) 2015-02-27 02:02 am (UTC)(link)
It's a link from Jezebel, run through donotlink so as to not give them page views.

Girl was an ass to put her hair back when she KNEW it was blocking someone's view. The man didn't even sound particularly impolite asking, the first time.

Guy was an ass to call her disgusting.

I don't like any of these people

Yeah, this basically how end up feeling about these conflicts. Everybody's a damn asshole.

(Anonymous) 2015-02-27 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
As a short person who often has to sit on her heels just to see over not-particularly-tall people in the cinema, I think she was a rude, inconsiderate asshole. He was in the wrong calling her disgusting though, he lost any footing his complain might have.

(Anonymous) 2015-02-27 02:20 am (UTC)(link)
Looking at the pic, her hair wasn't even that big. If it obstructs the view of the person behind her, then I imagine they'd have difficulties even if she was bald.

(Anonymous) 2015-02-27 02:41 am (UTC)(link)
If that was after being tied down for a while, it was probably bigger beforehand

I think both are assholes, just pointing that out

(Anonymous) 2015-02-27 04:36 am (UTC)(link)
I think she overreacted a bit, but I like her criticism of the opera's staging.

I remember when I went to the ballet and ended up behind a woman with an enormous 1950's style beehive hairdo. I distinctly remember occasionally being able to see an arm or a foot gesture out past the periphery of her ginormous hair.

I didn't say anything, because I wasn't brave enough to confront them, but I still wonder what the hell she was thinking. How do you not see your giant poufy hair, and not realize that it's going to block the view of people behind you? I guess some people just don't care, as long as THEY can see.
