It's a whole day dedicated to listening to motivational speakers, developing a five year career plan, talking about said plan etc specifically targeted at keeping Aboriginals in our work area (reduce dropout rate etc etc).

I wouldn't mind so much if I didn't have such an utter lack of choice in the matter (and it wasn't my second week back at work, I feel bad ditching my team for a whole day) and the usual discomfort when you're shoved into something to be the token person.

_{I'm all for awareness but yay internal stigma that I only have the job cause minority emplyoment rates etc which is illogical because I'm pretty good at what I do but those viewpoints weigh down on you. Double edged sword type dealio. Sigh, many conflictions about it.}

That sounds terrriiibllleeeee.

I feel better if the new recruits are also attending. It will be good for them and I don't mind helping them out.

For me it's really just irritating because I've already developed my career plan and it's just too late into my recruitment/too early into my return to work. Mostly just a bother.
