As the resident The Big Bang Theory watcher, I can clarify. Sheldon has never said that he is Asexual (it was quite clearly stated in one episode that he represses his sexual urges, but that does not necessarily mean Sheldon isn't Asexual), what he is is uncomfortable with physical touch, and he is also hella scared of germs. He has stated on the show both to Amy and to Penny that he wants to get to a point where he can have a physical relationship with Amy, but he might never get there and it will take time.

And yes Amy does pressure Sheldon, but most of the time she does not force him to do anything, there have been moments in the show that have been not cool, but all in all they are both trying their best.

Where was I? Amy did once give a pretty great speech to some of the other characters about the fact that they look at her and Sheldons relationship as something less real, because they don't have sex and how that is not the truth. That their relationship is just as "adult" and real as everyone elses even if they don't have sex. And that it is their business, not everyones elses.

And Sheldon can cope quite well, he knows Amy wants to have sex with him, he also wants to give her that. But at the present moment that isn't happening, but if he really was uncomfortable with the situation he could leave it.

It is, but there are also shitty parts and the show isn't always as great at showing the stuff I mentioned, but it is there.
